5 Best Gadgets For Tiny Floating Houses

5 Best Gadgets For Tiny Floating Houses

Just the other day I saw my friend who lives on his sailboat post about sewing the seams of his sails using a compact sewing machine. After spending some time onboard my own sailboat in a small space, and now at home during the pandemic, it made me think of other handy gadgets I would love to have.

What are your must-have gadgets to bring onboard your tiny floating home? Here are a few that I have been eyeing over the past few weeks.

Portable Projector Screen

Watching movies is a favorite pastime of mine. And lately, with everything that has been going on, I sure have a lot of time (I’ve already blazed through the Godfather Trilogy).  Point is, pandemic or not, I love watching movies. I also enjoy a movie night with my kids and family. And, when I am onboard traveling from country to country, having a portable proctor screen to gather around on cool nights below deck, seems pretty nifty to me.

Boat Hammock

I love a good hammock. But, I hate it when it involves any type of tricky setup. I want to be able to unpack and repack my hammock wherever I go without the bells and whistles if it means I can literally just “hang” it anywhere and relax. So, here is what I’ve researched to be the best boat hammock out there. And, heck maybe even the best stay-at-home deck hammock.

Cordless Electric Wine Opener

Being a wine connoisseur and Italian, I generally like to be old fashion about when it comes to opening my wine. Hearing the “pop” of the cork after using a traditional corkscrew, pumps warm and tingly red blood through my veins. But, I also like cool gadgets that impress. So, while this cordless electric wine opener may seem a bit frivolous, it sure has received some raving reviews. Either way, I think I am going to give this cordless electric wine opener a whirl.

Boat Wine Holder

Spilling off from the cordless electric wine opener, I am also intrigued by these boat wine holders. While I have my sailboat stocked with plastic cups and vases, I like a little class as well. So, I have some crystal stored away on board for special occasions. But, the reality of being on the open ocean is that the sea is not always even-tempered. Saying that, I think it would be pretty cool to have a few of these on board to keep my crystal wine glasses intact. But, hey, for now, I may even buy them to use them in my shower?

Noise-Canceling Cordless Smart Headphones

It sounds like a mouthful to say, but noise-canceling cordless smart headphones are actually the best investment for a sailboat or tiny floating home dweller. That’s because you put them on, turn on your favorite tunes and “poof” suddenly nothing else matters. Plus, these ones don’t suck because they  have a long lasting-battery. Moreover, they are rain and water-resistant. Just don’t bring them in the shower ya know? Either way, if you need a break from unwanted background noise, especially when living in close quarters, these noise-canceling sleek headphones are your answer.

Oh, and by the way, you don’t have to live in a tiny floating home to enjoy any of these smart little gadgets. After all, it’s the little things that make life all that more interesting.

Cheers,

Captain Gino
