Here are The Best Destinations in The World to go Standup Paddle Boarding
Do you know what’ SUP?
Standup paddle boarding, otherwise known as SUP, is all the rave these days! Plus, compared to its other water sport contenders, it’s pretty easy to learn. But, in order to master the art of paddle boarding, well that’s a different story. For me, paddle boarding is a great way to get from your boat to the beach. Just hop on and paddle on.
I have brought my paddle board to the big and itty-bitty exotic corners of the earth. But I have to say, that some destinations are more impressive than others. Below are the best destinations to go standup paddle boarding around the world.
Lake Tahoe, California
Lake Tahoe is a huge freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It’s straddled by the border of California and Nevada. Which makes it known for its skiing in the wintertime, and placid beaches during the summertime.
Lake Tahoe also happens to be a hotspot for standup paddle boarding. Clearly due to its crystal clear deep-blue waters. Add on snow-capped mountains that surround the lake in glory, and well … you have one of the best destinations in the world to go standup paddle boarding.
What’s more, is that Lake Tahoe has a plethora of agencies that rent and/or give lessons to beginners. At the end of the day, many agree that Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world. Shake in some adventurous paddle boarding, and you have recipe for paddle board heaven!
Bali
Want to explore the stunning coasts of Bali? Then paddle on!
Huddled right in the Indonesian archipelago, Bali truly is a paddle boarder’s paradise. And, while all of Bali is pretty much a paddle boarding mecca for adamant paddlers, Kuta Beach is where it all began. And, some may even argue that Kuta, is the best beach in the entire world to go standup paddle boarding.
So if you need an excuse to visit the enchanting tropical paradise of Bali, you now have one. Who knows? You may even come back with an inner and outer glow. A “glow” that you can only get from paddle boarding though the magical waters of Bali.
Antarctic Peninsula
Say what?!?! You thought paddle boarding was just a warm water sport? Think again! The Antarctic Peninsula has been gaining momentum in the paddle board scene for good reason. With calm bays, and magnificent scenery, you can paddle your way through glacier icebergs and maybe even spot a penguin or two. As I mentioned above, paddle boarding is relatively new to Antartica, but is spreading fast throughout the peninsula. Today it happens to be one of the coolest sports to do in the region.
Almost all SUP excursions in Antarctica are lead by professional guides and are suitable for beginners. But, if you are an advanced boarder, you can expect to encounter exciting rides surrounded by breathtaking views, and wildlife. Just don’t forget your dry suit. Oh, and to add a layer or two. It’s a bit cooler (in both senses of the word) around Antarctica!
So there you have it my friends. The most dazzling destinations to take your paddle board and go for a ride.
Paddle on!
Cheers,
Gino
